Description of Vrischikasana (Scorpion Pose)
Vrischikasana is an advanced inverted backbend that combines balance, flexibility, and strength. In this asana, the body is lifted into a forearm stand while the back arches deeply, and the legs extend forward overhead—resembling a scorpion’s poised tail. It is a powerful pose that requires preparation, focus, and mastery over both the body and breath.
Steps of Vrischikasana
- Begin in Dolphin Pose (Ardha Pincha Mayurasana): Forearms and palms firmly on the ground, shoulder-width apart. Elbows directly under shoulders.
- Shift into Forearm Balance (Pincha Mayurasana): Walk the feet forward, engage the core, and kick up gently, stacking the hips over the shoulders. Use a wall if needed for support.
- Establish Balance and Stability: Once in balance, maintain even pressure through both forearms. Engage the legs and glutes.
- Begin the Backbend: Slowly bend the knees and let the feet drop over the head. Open the chest and arch the spine gracefully.
- Adjust for the Final Scorpion Shape: Bring the toes closer to the head or even touch the crown if flexibility allows. Breathe deeply and steadily.
- Hold the Pose (5–20 seconds or more): Stay in the pose as long as it feels stable, calm, and controlled. Keep awareness on breath and balance.
- To Release: Slowly straighten the legs and gently lower them down to the mat with control, returning to Dolphin or Child’s Pose.

Limitations:
