Description
I am a practitioner of Iyengar Yoga. I am drawn to it for its inclusivity, and its methodical cultivation of focus, intention and discipline, using the body first as the tool. I am fascinated by how this approach transforms and empowers one toward wellness on and beyond physical level.
As an immigrant from Japan existing on the margin in the US, I found refuge and anchor in Iyengar Yoga. Since I took up the practice in New York City in 2001, Iyengar Yoga and its certified teachers have helped me heal and transform my body and mind. Since moving to San Francisco in 2007, Abode of Yoga has been my home in the pursuit of deeper understanding of the subject. It is there, with the guidance of my teacher Manouso Manos and with love and support of this community, I have been developing knowledge, skills, courage and a sense of purpose, and learning what it means to serve others with respect, care, compassion and love.
