Though it may sound odd and slightly complicated, Iyengar Yoga is great for beginners and it’s our passion at Austin Yoga Tree. Our Iyengar teachers help beginners and seasoned yoga students understand each pose, or asana, by providing clear verbal instruction with a focus on proper alignment. You’ll not only practice yoga but also build a foundational understanding of each pose. For this reason, you’ll often find AYT teachers in class right beside you enjoying their own personal practice. Some of the poses you can expect in an Iyengar class are Mountain Pose, Triangle Pose and Downward-Facing Dog (or Down Dog). Props are your friends in this class - blocks, bolsters, blankets and even the Yoga Wall come in handy.
