Hey there! My name is Alycia Messenger. My yoga journey had a rocky start. Literally! My sisters and I on a whim, booked a rock climbing weekend in Wisconsin back in 2007. We loved it so much, we made it a weekend thing for months and I even signed up for climbing classes at a local gym. I added yoga to my fitness routine to strengthen my core for climbing. I tried Bikram Yoga for awhile and loved the heat! (ok for real the yoga journey started about 10 years before that but it was the rock climbing that made me stick with it.) I took my first class at Corepower Yoga studio in Chicago in January 2009 and enrolled in the 200 hour teacher training in Hot Power Fusion after just two classes. Becoming a yoga teacher was not in my long term plans. Teacher training became a way for me to connect my yoga practice with my climbing practice and yoga changed my life by changing my perspective. I started teaching part-time by 2010. Two years later I completed another 200hr training in Power yoga as well as Yoga Sculpt. At this point I was feeling very unsatisfied in my professional career in finance so I decided to focus on a life committed to yoga and wellness. I left my corporate job and dove into teaching yoga full-time. In college I majored in photography; which became my passion at a young age. As a photographer, I view life through the lens and connect with others on a deeper level.
