Jivamaya Yoga Therapy

A G Mohan, in his translation of the Yoga Yajnavalkya in partnership with his son, Ganesh Mohan, describes the word “Jivamaya” as such:  “According to ayurveda, a major cause of disease is ‘ama’, the toxic results of incomplete or incorrect metabolism.  Mentally too, we may accumulate toxicity; that is the ama at the psychological level.  ‘Jita’ means ‘conquered’.  Therefore, ‘Jitamaya’ refers to one who has won over both mental and physical ama.”
